Erik Estrada back in Muncie:

Erik Estrada, who is famous for his role as PONCH in the popular seventies motorcycle cop drama, “CHIPs” was back in Muncie, Indiana this past week (1st. week of December) as a reserve Police officer on the Muncie Police Department.

He came back to renew his annual Police certification to keep his law enforcement status active. He took part in overnight Police patrols in the city from 11:00PM - 7:00AM

He also took part in the holiday food basket program and Muncie Fraternal Order of Police Shop-with- a-Cop program, a program which helps kid’s receive Christmas gifts who can’t afford it otherwise.

He became a Muncie Policeman when he and other celebrities came to Muncie and stared in a TV series entitled, “Armed and Famous”, which was filmed in Muncie. It only ran for a few weeks on CBS a couple of years ago and was cancelled, but there have been talk of it maybe returning!

Erik made a vow when he left Muncie to return each December to renew his Police certification and to help with charity work that he so much enjoys.

Erik said, “He has told his wife when he dies that he wanted her to put his Muncie Policeman uniform on him”.  He said, “As a child that was always his dream, to become a Policeman in real life”.

One of the things he was looking forward to do in Muncie besides his other duties was to visit the local Chili’s restaurant and have their Lava Cake. He has made numerous fans and is well respected in the community. A very nice man!!!

Dottie Rambo killed in bus accident

Dottie Rambo and Shawn Shannon

We were very sad to learn that Dottie Rambo had been killed in a bus accident and that other people on the bus were injured.

We were blessed to have recorded a few of Dottie's songs down through the years and we count it a great honor that we knew her.  She always had a word of encouragement for everyone she met;  she was a great soldier in the army for the Lord.  Her testimony she has left behind speaks for itself.  Her songs will live on and on and what a great gift she has given to the world to enjoy.

She was a great friend and we are going to miss her dearly. "Our loss is Heaven's gain".

Please remember her family as they grieve her loss.  Pray for the one's that were injured in the accident and their families.

While you are listening to this group you can tell they enjoy singing about the Lord.

You will enjoy all 11 songs, but my top 3 would be: Trading My Cross For A Crown,

Wilma speaks at Heart breakfast

Wilma recently was asked to give a speech at a breakfast hosted by the American Heart Association about heart disease survivors.  Several Businesses were represented including the new athletic director for Ball State University, Tom Collins.

Heart Disease is the No. 1 Killer of women over 25.  Cardiovascular diseases kills nearly 500,000  women each year.  One in five women in the US have cardiovascular disease.  More than half of those will die suddenly with no previous symptoms.

Men are generally considered the main sufferers of heart disease, but studies have shown recently that two women to every man will die of heart disease.  This is a serious business for women.  Women need to get educated about their hearts.  This is not a man's disease anymore.

The Go Red for women is the American Heart Association's national campaign to raise awareness about women's No. 1 killer, Heart Disease.  You can call 1-888-MY-HEART to receive a free red dress pin and brochures or click on the above link.  You can also contact Wilma for literature by emailing her at shannons@theshannons.com.  We will also have literature at our concerts.

Wilma is asking all women to take control of their lives.
