A special “Thank you” from Country Dan Dixon

Dearest Friends,
You’ve heard it said that “Friends Are a Blessing!” And I’m testifying
to that fact. The word got out that I am still unable to walk and
confined to a wheelchair at the moment. Well I am overwhelmed at the
support that you have shown me. Many of you who are friends of Leland
Martin who I call “My favorite Country and Western Truck Drivin’ Singer”
have gone over the top by supplying me with not one but two power
chairs! I am so humbled to know that you would show me such love. To say
Thank You would be an understatement. Bless you all for your prayers and
the support, it means the world to me knowing how blessed you’ve made me
feel. All I can say is I will keep you all in my prayers too. (I hope
you enjoy this picture of Leland Martin delivering the chairs to me in
person!)
Much Love,
Country Dan Dixon

Country Dan
Dixon Releases the Following Statement
Greetings my dear friends!
The “Cookbook Lady” has kept me informed of your cares and
concerns of my well being. I
owe a great depth of gratitude to my adopted family “The Shannon’s” for
their support and encouragement.
They are such a wonderful family and group of individuals who
have kept me on track during my recovery. This has been a challenging
time in my life and your prayers, cards, letters, and emails have kept
me in touch with you. I am
so grateful. Thank you.
In January I was admitted into the hospital,
because my leg had to have surgery due to my Diabetes.
I tell people that God sometimes puts “speed bumps” in the road
of life, but I know he doesn’t give us more than we can handle.
Learning to walk with a new prosthesis has been extremely
difficult, but thanks to all of you being there for me. It means the
world to me. Hopefully with that continued support, I will eventually
make it back on the radio.
God Bless You All!
Country Dan Dixon

Update on the Doggy's

We get a lot of emails wondering how the families Doggy's (Shadow and
Buckles) are doing! They are doing just fine, and recently
celebrated their Birthday's.
They Celebrated with a party of homemade Doggy Cup Cakes and homemade
Doggy Ice Cream, and you guest it, Wilma made both for them. They
shared their treats with other Doggies in the neighborhood.
The recipes for the Cup Cakes and Ice Cream can be found in Wilma's
Doggy Cookbook "A Doggy's Delight Cookbook". To order a

from the “Great Lakes Gospel Sing 2009” in
Michigan:
Everyone had a great time at the “Great Lakes
Gospel Sing” in Michigan.
Below are a few photos from the event.

Erik Estrada
back in Muncie:

Erik Estrada, who is famous for his
role as PONCH in the popular seventies motorcycle cop drama, “CHIPs” was
back in Muncie, Indiana
this past week (1st. week of December) as a reserve Police
officer on the Muncie Police Department.
He came back to renew his annual Police
certification to keep his law enforcement status active. He took part in
overnight Police patrols in the city from 11:00PM - 7:00AM
He also took part in the holiday food basket
program and Muncie Fraternal Order of Police Shop-with- a-Cop program, a
program which helps kid’s receive Christmas gifts who can’t afford it
otherwise.
He became a Muncie Policeman when he and other
celebrities came to Muncie and stared in
a TV series entitled, “Armed and Famous”, which was filmed in Muncie. It only ran for a few weeks on CBS a
couple of years ago and was cancelled, but there have been talk of it
maybe returning!
Erik made a vow when he left Muncie to return each December to renew his
Police certification and to help with charity work that he so much
enjoys.
Erik said, “He has told his wife when he dies that
he wanted her to put his Muncie Policeman uniform on him”.
He said, “As a child that was
always his dream, to become a Policeman in real life”.
One of the things he was looking forward to do in Muncie besides his other
duties was to visit the local Chili’s restaurant and have their Lava
Cake. He has made numerous fans and is well respected in the community.
A very nice man!!!

Dottie Rambo killed in bus accident

Dottie Rambo and Shawn Shannon
We were very sad to learn that Dottie Rambo had
been killed in a bus accident and that other people on the bus were
injured.
We were blessed to have recorded a few of Dottie's
songs down through the years and we count it a great honor that we knew
her. She always had a word of encouragement for everyone she met;
she was a great soldier in the army for the Lord. Her testimony
she has left behind speaks for itself. Her songs will live on and
on and what a great gift she has given to the world to enjoy.
She was a great friend and we are going to miss her
dearly. "Our loss is Heaven's gain".
Please remember her family as they grieve her loss.
Pray for the one's that were injured in the accident and their families.

Wilma speaks at Heart breakfast
Wilma recently was asked to give a speech at a breakfast
hosted by the American Heart
Association about heart disease survivors. Several Businesses were
represented including the new athletic director for Ball State University,
Tom Collins.
Heart Disease is the No. 1 Killer of women over 25.
Cardiovascular diseases kills nearly 500,000 women each year.
One in five women in the US have cardiovascular disease. More than
half of those will die suddenly with no previous symptoms.
Men are generally considered the main sufferers of heart
disease, but studies have shown recently that two women to every man will
die of heart disease. This is a serious business for women.
Women need to get educated about their hearts. This is not a man's
disease anymore.
The Go Red for women is the
American Heart Association's
national campaign to raise awareness about women's No. 1 killer, Heart
Disease. You can call 1-888-MY-HEART to receive a free red dress pin
and brochures or click on the above link. You can also contact Wilma
for literature by emailing her at
shannons@theshannons.com. We will also have literature at our
concerts.
Wilma is asking all women to take control of their lives.
